The OPA is the parent group for all the regional associations in Ontario Canada.
Objectives: The objectives of the Ontario Prospectors Association are to represent and further the interests of the mineral exploration industry and the individual prospector.
History: The association started life in the late 1980's as the Ontario Mineral Exploration Federation (OMEF), a group formed to help provide industry input into the drafting of the new Mining Act for Ontario. In December, 1994, the name was changed to the Ontario Prospectors Association to more clearly convey who the group represented, and its close relationship to the regional Ontario prospecting groups.
Publications: The official voice of the OPA is The Explorationist, a newsletter which is published 10 times a year and distributed to the members of several of the associated member groups of the OPA.
